Four Great Mobile Apps For Your Business
As a busy small business owner—I’m hardly ever in my office! Instead, I’m meeting clients, attending conferences, working in coffee shops along the road, and meeting with business partners on the fly. That’s why I rely on an array of small business apps to help me run my business smoothly—from anywhere!
Honestly, I’m in my office so little, that my husband jokes that I probably forgot how to get there. All kidding aside, I need technology that can help me manage my affairs from a distance, especially when i'm travelling for business. It's a great feeling to be able to get some work done while waiting for a flight.
Thanks to the following four mobile phone apps for small business—I’m able to run my day-to-day operations from my Samsung Galaxy s3 from T-Mobile, but these apps are also available for iPhone and Android-enabled smart phones. Check them out and let me know what you think!
1. Dragon Dictation (Free – for iPhone)
Do you ever feel the heat when it comes to remembering appointments, ideas, notes from business meetings, and the names of your business contacts? Well the Dragon Dictation app is a one-click speech-to-text dictation recorder. Simply use it to talk and type so the next time you need to remember an important conference call you can launch the app, start talking, and your words will be recorded as text by the app. You can save it to the app or cut and paste into any application you want later on (such as your Outlook or Google calendar). Dragon Diction is known for its high-quality, speech-recognition software—and it’s five times faster than typing on a keyboard. Plus, you don’t even need to be connected to the Internet for the app to work—so you can take it with you on the road to record notes, dates, ideas, or business contacts—from anywhere!
2. LinkedIn (Free – for iPhone & Android)
How many paper business cards do you collect on a daily basis? How about at that last conference you attended? I bet you had a bundle. However, if you’re like me, I always tuck them away in my purse, briefcase, or pocket and forget about them. Whenever I’m looking for a business card that I need, I can’t seem to find it. That was until LinkedIn, the professional business networking platform. Like Facebook, but with a professional edge, LinkedIn lets you create a business profile, read up on other relevant profiles, connect with industry partners and customers, and even search for your next employee of the month.
3. Google Sync (Free – for iPhone & Android)
As far as a tool that I use every day, multiple times a day, Google Synch is invaluable to my business. Not only do I use the Google Calendar tool to keep track of all of my business meetings, due dates, appointments, and industry events—I use this as my electronic day timer to keep my schedule in check. The stellar thing about Google Sync app is that whatever you add or delete using the app—such as calendar items and business contacts—everything is instantly synced back across my mobile network so I can view everything instantly from my smart phone, laptop, tablet, and desktop computer.
4. LogMeIn (Free – for iPhone)
I used to dream of the day when I could get all of my desktop applications running on my iPhone. However, the LogMeIn app made my dreams a reality! I just downloaded the LogMeIn software on my PC, my laptop, my tablet—and voila—now I can remotely control all of my files and run my desktop applications from absolutely anywhere. You can imagine how handy it is having everything I need to run my business at my fingertips when I’m traveling on business or presenting a business plan to a potential client at their corporate offices? LogMeIn has made my business life a whole lot easier to run remotely!
