How to Build a New Brand on Facebook

Facebook offers many opportunities for businesses to make their online presence known. You can reach potential consumers using this social media site that traditional methods could never reach. This powerful communication platform helps businesses connect with consumers all over the globe in a way that gets you noticed.

If you’re new to social media sites and not quite sure how to get started, the information here will help you learn how to build a new brand on Facebook.

Develop a Plan

You can’t just jump right in and start using Facebook without a plan and expect to get great results. It takes time and commitment to develop a plan that allows you to build a fan base of loyal followers that have a real interest in the products or services you offer. When your Facebook page focuses on an audience that will actually use your brand, it’ll get more attention.

To determine your targeted audience, think about who uses the products or services that you have to offer. For example, if you sell athletic shoes for women, then you would target women that have an interest in sports, exercise or running.

If you sell infant car seats, then you would target expectant mothers, fathers and parents or guardians with small children. Knowing who your targeted audience is and focusing your efforts on drawing them to your Facebook page will help you build your new brand awareness.

Give Your Page a Personal Touch

It’s important to know that fans visit your page to learn more about you. They want to meet the people behind the product/services you sell. Who are you? Why should they be interested in what you have to offer? How can it benefit them? There are several ways to relay the answers to these questions to your followers.

First, the CEO should have his or her own page/profile with a current profile picture and a little information about your company. You can talk about how the company got started along with some of the obstacles you overcame to get where you are today.

Next, help your fans get to know you better by posting photos and videos of your employees and your facility. These are the type of things that help consumers see and understand the people behind the products/service you offer. It gives you that personal touch needed on a social media site to help make your brand known.

Capture Consumer Attention

Once you have determined who you want to target and given your page a personal touch, you need to create a plan that will capture consumer attention and give them a reason to follow you. The best way to attract followers is by providing interesting content, news stories and tips that relate to your company.

For example, a company selling infant car seats can post content on child safety, using car seats correctly or you can provide tips on choosing the right size car seat based on the child’s age and size. Be sure to link to authoritative sources and use visual aids whenever possible. You can provide news stories on how child seats save lives and similar information that your followers can benefit from. When done correctly, your fans will see you as an expert in your field, instead of a pushy salesman.

Another way to capture consumer attention is to offer your followers special deals they cannot get anywhere else or allow them to enter contests to win cash and/or prizes. This encourages visitors to become a fan and to continue following you.

Be Sociable

Facebook is not the place to push your product constantly. It’s about interaction and engagement so be sociable and friendly, not formal and cold. This does not mean that you can never advertise but you don’t want a page full of ads and links to your company’s website. You want to provide something useful and encourage communication by asking your fans questions and responding to their comments.

People love to share news, stories and experiences. When you give them an opportunity to do this, you keep their interest and you’re using Facebook the way it was meant to be used. You want followers to tell you what they like about your products and why they use them. However, you must be open to all forms of communication, including complaints.

It’s easy to respond to comments that say something good about your company but it can be a little more difficult when someone leaves a negative comment. Regardless, you can’t ignore them. This is your opportunity to show that your company is dedicated to its customers and to resolving problems in an effort to make your products/services more user-friendly or whatever the case may be.

Dealing with Inappropriate Comments

There will be times when you’ll have to deal with inappropriate, offensive comments and how you deal with it will have an impact on how fans view your brand. It’s important to know the difference between something inappropriate and comments that are just rude.

If the comments contain bad language or threats, then you should delete them immediately. If the comments are simply rude and disrespectful, then you should offer a professional response and let it end there.  Allow your fans to have a voice- even if you don’t always agree with that voice.

By reading and responding to comments, you can learn what consumers think about your products/services. It’s first-hand information from the people you’re targeting that you can use to improve your business, build your company and build your new brand on Facebook at the same time.

When you first choose to use Facebook to market your brand, it may seem a little overwhelming. Just take it one step at a time and follow the tips above to create a page that offers follows information they can use. As a result, it will help you build a new brand on Facebook that draws in lots of fans and improves sales.

Using a combination of Social Media platforms is great because you are reaching different audiences. It all depends on how much time you have to dedicate to Social Media.
